The AMS Bowfishing reel Model 310, the Retriever, is safe and simple. The reel mounts to your bow's existing sight holes, and comes with 2 safety slide kits for your arrows.
The AMS bowfishing reel has an ingenious design that I think makes it much safer than most of the fishing reels used, or advertised, for use while fishing with your bow. What makes it safer? There is no button you have to push to release the line, or that could hang-up like every fishing reel is bound to do. The line is retrieved by holding down a lever that pinches the heavy duty fishing line in between two rollers, then you crank a handle like a fishing reels and the line is retrieved and deposited into an attached plastic bottle. When you release the lever the retrieving wheel automatically moves upwards releasing the string.
The AMS reel is extremely easy to set-up. The only tools required are a screwdriver. I had my High Country bow set-up in about 20 minutes while at the lake, and I had my first carp less 20 minutes later!
If you are considering getting into bowfishing, or if you are considering something safer and more reliable than the old spools or closed face fishing reels I can highly recommend the AMS bowfishing reel.
