Officers Randy Webb and Ben Pineda responded to a complaint of a nuisance bear near a children‟s day care in Navarre. Upon arrival, the officers saw where the bear had killed several chickens at the day care. Upon closer inspection, the officers came into contact with the large
bear that then bolted into the nearby woods. Wildlife technicians were called to the scene and placed traps in an attempt to capture the bear. After several unsuccessful days, the technicians successfully tranquilized the bear and with the assistance of Officer Howard Jones removed the 410-pound male from the area.
