More land for Wayne National Forest

Forest Service buys more land for Wayne National Forest

PEDRO, Ohio _ The U.S. Forest Service has completed a land purchase with The Nature Conservancy which will bring 4,117 acres of land into the Wayne National Forest. The property formerly was owned by Mead-Westvaco Corp.

In the final phase of the purchase, The Nature Conservancy transferred 1,665 acres of land in Lawrence County and 514 acres in Gallia County to the forest service. The transfer brings the total acreage of the Ironton Ranger District to 104,257 and to 240,979 acres for the Wayne National Forest.
