What do you guys think of one of these rifles in a 242, 308 or 7M/08?

For a single shot rifle, I would go with the 308 heavy barrel. I think you would have more choices of rounds, which would save you some money.

OK I like that 308 in the bull barrel but I've also looked at the 280 in a 26 inch barrel compared to 22 inches.
Two questions:
1.) Will the extra barrel lenght make much difference?

2.) How hard wll the 280 shoot? I am looking for minimal recoil. Something enjoyable to shoot.

Which ever gun you get, you can have muzzle brake made for the rifle by a local gun smith. The do make a big difference in the way they kick, and the way they sound!
