Introducing Ultimate Treeing Dog

Postby sevendogs » Thu Sep 21, 2006 12:12 pm

This is West Siberian Laika (WSL). Although its name indicates that the breed is from Siberia, the breed became pretty popular very far to the south, because it is the most heat tolerant dog among northen breeds. WSL puppies start treeing naturally (100% of them), this is a standard feature of the breed. Just take your puppy in woods often and turn loose, he will start finding his own squirrels by age of 4 to 10 months. Once started, he will be treeing for the rest of his active life. Squirrels by day and raccoons by night, but Laika would go after big game, too. It will bay or tree black bear, bay wild boar and moose, where available. Laika will find and tree wild turkey, do not forget to come up quietly for a sure shot.
