KALISPELL — The body of a 37-year-old Hungry Horse man has been recovered in the Flathead River nearly three weeks after he jumped out of a raft to try to retrieve an oar.

Flathead County Undersheriff Jordan White says a man walking along the shore spotted the body of Robert Alsop at about 1 p.m. Thursday. Alsop's body was found in an eddy near the confluence of the South Fork of the Flathead River and the main stem near Hungry Horse, about eight miles downstream from where he went missing on July 17. Alsop was not wearing a life jacket.

White says the body has been positively identified and will be released to Alsop's family without an autopsy.
