Star Valley hunter gets record mountain goat

JACKSON - The Wyoming Game and Fish office has confirmed that a mountain goat killed by a Star Valley hunter last fall is the largest goat on record in the state.

Brian Tallerico is an orthopedic surgeon in Star Valley. He bagged the trophy Oct. 4 in Hunt Area 2 near Jackson.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports the odds of drawing a goat license for that area in 2010 were nearly one in 200.

Tallerico is an experienced hunter and has hunted sheep and goats all over the West.

Game and Fish says the mountain goat he killed in Wyoming scored 51-2/8, making it the largest goat on record for Wyoming.
