Natchez Trace Parkway, Mississippi -
David Allison, 48, was biking south on Natchez Trace late on the
morning of October 9th when he was struck from behind by a
southbound Ford Escape.
National Park Service Rangers from the Tupelo
District, county deputies and EMS personnel responded to the
accident near mile marker 208. Allison was unconscious and unresponsive
and they were unable to revive him.
It appears the driver of the Ford Escape was
trying to pass him when the accident occurred.
On April 22nd, 51-year-old cyclist Esther Hagemen of the Netherlands was
hit and killed while riding her bike south near mile marker 231 in Chickasaw County. Hagemen
was also hit from behind and died at the scene.
